Todd Frazier finds himself in an awkward position after tremendous catch
There’s nothing better than having good teammates. They celebrate with you when things are good, and they pick you up when things are going poorly. Cincinnati Reds pitcher Keyvius Sampson took the latter a little too far Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
In the fourth inning, Matt Adams lifted a foul base into third base territory. Todd Frazier made his way toward the camera well on that side of the field, and lunged over the railing in order to make a fantastic defensive play.
Thankfully, his teammate was there to pick him up … literally. Keyvius Sampson grabbed Frazier by the waist and legs, making sure Frazier didn’t plummet on to the hard concrete below.
While Sampson meant well, and saved Frazier from a potentially serious injury, his action also produced one of the most awkward catches this season. Frazier, while hanging over the railing, had to prove he caught the ball. In order to do this, he extended his arm through Sampson’s legs, opening his glove to show the umps he actually made the play.
It looked a little something like this:
Overall, we have to give a lot of style points to both players here. Frazier made the nice play, Sampson saved him from injury and both gave us a pretty great moment to laugh about.

If you spend nine months of the year with the same 24 men, you’re bound to get pretty close over the course of the season. The Reds may have taken that literally here, but at least they’re bonding.
