Point Spread: Buccaneers +7/Texans -7
Total Line: 40.5
The Buccaneers claimed their first victory of the 2015 regular season last week, successfully beatinng out the New Orleans Saints in a 26-19 win. Quarterback, Jameis Winston led the team to the victory, although his play wasn’t altogether as captivating as it could have been. He succeeded with 14 passes of the 21 attempted for 207 yards, with one touchdown and zero interceptions. He also rushed for a touchdown. However, he couldn’t have done it alone, and much of the gratitude should go to his receiving corps, such as wide receiver, Louis Murphy, who caught three of four for 82 yards.
Tampa Bay have so far been a little lack lustre in the pas yards gained, only claiming 187.5, ranking them 30th. Rushing yards of 115.5 have brought their overall position up slightly, with 20 offensive points ranking them in 22nd. Defence have played pretty good games so far, only giving up 316 yards, comprising 202 pass and 114 rush yards. Players such as Winston need to focus more on putting their all into the game, and not just enough to get the job done.
Houston have begun their 2015 season on crumbly ground, suffering defeats in both games played. Number 15 quarterback, Ryan Mallett started for Houston last week and proved to be a much better player than the starter in the first week, Brian Hoyer. Mallett passed for 244 yards and a touchdown, plus a six-yard scoring run, although even this wasn’t good enough to beat Carolina, the game finishing with a 24-17 loss. Despite Mallett’s fairly decent play, he wasn’t always so structured and only managed to complete 27 of his 58 pass attempts.
According to official NFL stats, Houston have claimed 348 offensive yards altogether so far, ranking them 12th overall. This total is comprised of 268.5 pass yards and 79.5 rush yards, a fairly low end of the scale amount for the latter. Defence has been strong when it comes to pass yards given up, and the team is ranked 11th, and 12th overall for yards given up altogether.

The Texans are a little beat up with LT Duane Brown day to day and RB Arian Foster is hoping to play for the first time this season. If they go this line is too low. Tampa Bay’s rookie QB Jameis Winston and the offensive line of the Bucs has yet to face the pass rush that the Texans will be bringing against him and in just his third career start we expect him to make some mistakes. It’s do or die for Houston who has gotten off to poor starts in both of their games this season. We expect the highly motivated home side to get it down against the Bucs and do just enough to get the point spread cover.
