It looks like Chris Bosh’s love of videobombing made it into ‘NBA 2K16’
Over the years, the “NBA 2K” series has become the dominant title among basketball video games; each of the last four editions has sold well over 4 million copies, with last year’s model clocking in at a whopping 5.8 million. While the quality of its construction, graphics, gameplay and story modes have largely fueled that rise to prominence — the annual struggles of EA Sports to get its NBA franchise in shape have certainly helped, too — what’s endeared the “2K” series so much to die-hard fans has been its devotion to, as much as possible, getting the little things right.

The folks at 2K have taken the time to get Bazemoring in the game and let fans settle long-running debates. They’ve done right by Hassan Whiteside and Isaiah Austin. They’ve made sure the MVP’s mouthpiece dangles as he drops daggers.
And now — at least, by the looks of a new trailer for “NBA 2K16,” which hits store shelves on Sept. 29 — they’ve added one of the most peculiar quirks of one of the most singular characters in the league:
It remains to be seen whether Chris Bosh’s predilection toward videobombing teammates’ post–game interviews — actually appears in the course of gameplay or if it’s just a little extra touch of non-game animation sprinkled into the trailer as a little red meat for rabid fans. Either way, it’s a little doff of the cap to those who pay close attention — an indication that when you’re investing this much time, energy and money in putting together a product, even the little grace notes matter.

Of course, you can spend all that time on the little stuff when the big stuff’s mostly taken care of. When it’s not, though …
Well, at least the faces will get fixed. Take us out, Chris.
