Cincinnati claimed their second victory of the 2015 regular season last week when they defeated San Diego’s Chargers in a 19-24 outcome. Quarterback, Andy Dalton proved once more that his terrible 2014 AFC Wild Card performance was thoroughly behind him, throwing three scoring passes to three different receivers. This is all thanks to the recent increase in receiving players at Cincinnati, giving Dalton several different ways to go. Tyler Eifert is finally back with the Bengals, following last year’s injury that took him out of the 2014 season altogether in the first week. He should continue to prove invaluable to Cincinnati.
The Bengals are ranked seventh overall for the 392.5 yards gained, comprising 241.5 pass yards and 151 rush yards. Their offensive points are recorded at 28.5 by official statistics, positioning them in sixth place. Defensively, Cincinnati have only handed over 300 yards to their opponents, giving them another sixth position, thanks to strong play from Eifert and others such as Giovani Bernard.
Things have been a little different for the Ravens though, as they’ve suffered two losses in the 2015 season already. Although, that’s not particularly due to bad playing. Baltimore’s Joe Flacco was putting on a tremendous performance against the Oakland Raiders last week and went through the entire game without being sacked once. However, a late interception in the final moments of the game tipped the scale in Oakland’s favour. Flacco requires more support from the rushing offence line if he is to cause any damage to the Bengals.
Having only recorded 23 offensive points, Baltimore sits in 17th position on the rankings, while their 333 yards gained positions them in 20th. Defence has been particularly strong in holding off rush yards being gained, with the team ranked 11th. However, interceptions have not been kind to the Ravens and they’ve given up a total of 333.5 yards altogether so far, ranking them 11th overall. The aforementioned Flacco has completed 50 of the 77 pass attempts made this season so far though, giving him a completion rate of 64.9%.

It’s tough going against a desperate team 0-2 on the season and playing their first game at home this season, but that’s exactly what we are going to do this week. These are divisional opponents and the Bengals can hugely lower the Ravens chances of getting anywhere near the division lead and probably a Wild Card spot with a road win here. Cincinnati destroyed the Raiders in their season opener on the road getting an easy 33-13 win while Baltimore gave up 448 yards of offense to Oakland in a 37-33 road loss. We expect Baltimore to go all out in this game, but in the end that may not be enough against a motivated a fellow AFC North opponent who by the way has gotten the victory in the last three meetings. You should be able to get a field goal at most square books.
