Jose Altuve ripped his pants sliding into third with a triple
Houston Astros All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve is known for his hitting and his hustle.
He combined the two Monday night, and the end result was pretty hilarious.
In the seventh inning of Houston’s game against the Los Angeles Angels, Altuve hit a long fly ball off the wall in right-center field.

Sprinting out of the batter’s box, Altuve hustled around the bases and headed for third. He no trouble beating the throw for a triple, but when he popped up from his theatrical slide, he was in for a bit of a surprise: There was a big ol’ rip on the left leg of his pants.
Here’s an even better look at the damage, from the good people at MLB Cut 4:
That must have been one ferocious slide.

Ripped pants and all, Altuve’s triple helped lift the Astros a huge 6-3 win. He finished the night 3-for-4 at the plate.
Houston is now one game behind the Texas Rangers for first place in the AL West, and still have a three game edge for the second wild-card spot.
If Altuve has to play with a gaping hole in the back of his pants every night from here on out to ensure the Astros reach the postseason, we knew he’d do it in a heartbeat.
