AC/DC concert leaves Wrigley infield ‘completely messed up,’ says Joe Maddon
Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon strikes us as the kind of guy who might enjoy listening to some AC/DC from time to time.
Right now though, he’s not exactly digging the iconic rock group. Maddon says AC/DC left the Wrigley Field infield in shambles following its concert at the Friendly Confines last week.

The apparently shoddy playing surface didn’t hurt the Cubs in their 9-5 win over Milwaukee on Monday, but a fielding error charged to Starlin Castro was enough to get Maddon to speak up.
“Since the AC/DC concert, we’ve had a little bit of trouble,” Maddon said in referring to the performance on Sept. 15. “I don’t know if they were out there taking ground balls before the game, or if they had nine-inch heels or spikes.
“They totally messed up the infield, and it has nothing to do with the groundskeepers. I’ve seen a bad hop at third, and a bad hop at second. I didn’t see one bad hop all year. We just got to get it ironed out because I think Starlin has done a nice job at second base. I don’t want anyone blaming him on that error. It was a weird hop.”
With the Cubs set to reach the postseason for the first time since 2008 – even though at this point they would have to win the NL wild-card game on the road to host a game at Wrigley – rectifying this issue is of the utmost importance.

Just don’t expect to see Maddon cruising around in his 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu jamming to “For Those About to Rock” anytime soon.
