Josh Donaldson’s distinct hairstyle catching on with Blue Jays fans
On the field, Josh Donaldson has led the Toronto Blue Jays to first place in the American League East.
Off the field, he’s leading a fashion revolution.
Fans can’t do anything to play like Donaldson, who’s considered a frontrunner for the AL MVP award, but they can and are taking steps to look like their favorite Blue Jays player.

Donaldson’s distinct hairstyle – it’s part mohawk, part samurai tail, with shaved sides trimmed into a V-shape at the back – has become the cut of choice for a number of people of all ages.
It’s a unique look that Jays fans have been emulating. Donaldson says he often receives photos of similar cuts via Twitter and isn’t surprised it has caught on.
“I knew that would happen,” Donaldson said in a recent interview. “When my barber was first cutting my hair like this he was like ‘Hey, people are going to start getting this haircut all over the city,’ and they did. I think it’s pretty funny.”
“I kind of think of it as more of a top knot than a man bun,” he said pensively. “But it’s also got a bit of a samurai look to it, which is what I wanted.
“I’m sure a fan will come up with a name for it. Maybe we should do a poll or something.”
It turns out it’s not just a Toronto thing either. Our own Chris Cwik is a fan of the look too.

Donaldson hasn’t even been with the Blue Jays for a full season, and he can already say he has inspired change in Toronto in a couple different ways. That’s mighty impressive.
