St. Louis was a 34-31 OT winner over Seattle last week. QB Nick Foles led the way with 297 passing yards and a TD pass. He didn’t throw a pick but lost 2 fumbles, one of which was returned for a score. The running game was lacking as they averaged only 2.9 ypc but didn’t have rookie RB Todd Gurley or backup Tre Mason (check status). The defense made several big plays and had 6 sacks and 1 pick. Their run defense was good last week and they face another opponent this week that loves to give it to their bellcow back.
Washington was a 17-10 loser to Miami on Sunday. The offense moved the ball on the ground (161 yards, 121 by Alfred Morris) but struggled in the red zone. They face a tough front seven this week and may find the going a lot tougher. QB Kirk Cousins was 21-31 for 196 yards, 1 TD pass but 2 interceptions that were costly. TE Jordan Reed had 7 catches for 63 yards and a TD but deep threat WR DeSean Jackson was lost to a hamstring injury and is out this week. The defense had 3 sacks.

Some handicappers feel that the Redskins have a porous defense. We are not in that camp. The Redskins held Miami to 256 yards of offense last week and while Foles does like to air it out, we don’t think that the Rams will have any more success than the Dolphins. Washington moved the ball well against what is supposed to be a top level run defense and should be able to so against St. Louis. We would lean to Washington in this game, but we feel that the best value is on the total.
