Athletics minor leaguer shot in the head in drive-by shooting
serious condition after being shot in the head in a drive-by shooting early Friday morning, according to NBC 4 New York.
Oakland Athletics minor-league pitcher Mike Nolan is inNolan was reportedly standing outside his car at a Burger King when the suspect drove up and fired five or six shots at him and his friends. Nolan was shot in the head and the torso, according to his father Jim Nolan, and is currently fighting for his life.
It is believed Nolan and the suspect were involved in an earlier dispute, though police are saying Nolan was an “innocent victim.”
Local police are still searching for the suspect, according to NBC 4 New York.
Yonkers police called Nolan’s shooting “senseless,” adding he was of high regard in the community. Authorities are looking for possible surveillance video that may help lead to an arrest. Police said they’re looking for a pale yellow two-door Honda in connection with the shooting.
Nolan was selected by the Athletics in the 18th round of the 2014 draft. He signed with the club last June, but was placed on the restricted list a month later. He did not play in the team’s minor-league system this season.
