4 Missouri football players involved in car crash
Four Missouri football players – Terry Beckner Jr., DeSean Blair, Keyon Dilosa and Trevon Walters – were involved in a car crash Friday afternoon.
The program confirmed the players, all freshmen, were transported to University Hospital “as a precaution” to treat injures, none of which are life threatening.
According to the Columbia Tribune, the incident occurred “shortly before 4 p.m.” at the corner of College Ave. and University Dr. near campus. The accident involved two cars, one of which was driven by Beckner with Blair, Dilosa and Walters as passengers.
Tigers head coach Gary Pinkel was spotted at the scene of the accident.
Mizzou, which hosts UConn on Saturday, said in a statement that the status of the players “is being assessed and likely not known” until Saturday morning.
Beckner, a defensive tackle, was the Tigers’ top recruit in the 2015 class, coming in at No. 34 nationally on the Rivals Top 100. In two games so far this year, the 6-foot-4, 300-pound Beckner has four tackles and one tackle for loss.
Both Blair and Dilosa are redshirt freshman receivers. Dilosa has three catches for 25 yards this season while Blair has one catch for 21 yards.
Walters, a redshirt freshman running back, suffered a torn ACL during spring practice and has not played this season.
This is the second car accident involving Missouri football players in recent months. Junior defensive tackle Harold Brantley was seriously injured in a June 21 crash. He will miss the season after suffering a broken leg, knee ligament damage and multiple rib fractures.
The 22nd-ranked Tigers (2-0) are coming off a 27-20 win over Arkansas State last Saturday.
