Stance’s new official NBA socks will bring more color to the court
The NBA announced back in April that it would be switching up its sock game for the coming season, ushering in a new partnership with eye-catching accessory maker Stance aimed at bringing more splashes of color to the court over the next few years. We got our first look at the new style on Wednesday with an unveiling of the Stance designs for six of the NBA’s 30 teams — the Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, New Orleans Pelicans and New York Knicks — and the early returns seem slick:

As you see in the shots above, each team will get two distinct designs, although not necessarily in the traditional “white home, other away” binary, to wear throughout the season. The remaining 24 teams’ new looks will be revealed over the course of the next few weeks heading into the 2015-16 season — we’ve already seen mockups of designs for the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs — and Stance has promised “unique, limited-edition styles for marquee events and holiday games, including Hoops for Troops, Christmas Day, MLK Day and NBA All-Star.”
The idea seems to be similar to the direction the Hawks have taken with the new “volt green,” “granite gray” and triangle-patterned uniforms they unveiled earlier this summer — a bold, splashy sartorial choice aimed at generating new interest (and new revenues) from the younger consumers whose indulgence marketers, advertisers and executives crave. So you tell us: do the new Stance socks have you eager to empty out your pockets?
