Video shows 49ers fans beating Vikings fan after Monday night game
A disturbing video has emerged after Monday night’s game between the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers, images showing a number of 49ers fans beating on and kicking a Vikings fan.
The video — a warning: it’s quite graphic, and it contains strong language — appears to show two 49ers fans kicking the Vikings fan and a third 49ers fan on top of the victim punching his face outside Levi’s Stadium following the 49ers’ 20-3 victory.
Although the Vikings fan tries to get away from the scrum, he can’t. The 49ers fans keep on him, continuing to kick him before other 49ers fans and a security guard break up the melee.
The curator of the Facebook video, Bran Cosio, offers up a first-person explanation of what happened, indicating he thought the Vikings fan was the instigator, verbally challenging a group of 49ers fans, before the first 49ers fan pictured in the video started the fight by throwing a punch. Cosio also indicates that no police officers were in the vicinity to break up the incident once it got out of hand before fans and the security guard helped cease the action.
Violence before, during and after NFL games has been an issue for years, especially when alcohol is involved, but it’s not clear just how this thing escalated or whether any arrests were made. There have been no local news reports on the incident, and a message left with the 49ers was not immediately returned.
