Clydesdale born on day of Moustakas’ nine RBI named after Royals’ slugger
Kansas City third baseman Mike Moustakas had an unfortgettable game on Saturday, setting a franchise record with nine RBI in a win over Baltimore. It was the kind of performance that might inspire someone to, well, name a newborn after him.
And that’s just what happened, only the newborn in question is a Clydesdale foaled at Warm Springs Ranch in Booneville, Mo., that day. John and Alison Soto at the ranch named the new arrival ‘Moose,’ which also happens to be Moustakas’ nickname.

None of this seems the slightest bit unusual, but it is maybe a little awkward that the Clydesdales are so closely associated with Budweiser, which is so closely tied to the other team in the state, the St. Louis Cardinals.
It has been a difficult summer for Moustakas and his family. His mother, Connie, died on Aug. 9 after a long, brave fight against cancer.

After seeing Moustakas deal with such an awful situation through much of the season, it made watching him enjoy a career night Saturday that much better for many who love the game. With that in mind, it’s great to see Warm Springs Ranch put aside loyalties to another team and honor Moustakas and his achievement .
