Top five must-see plays from Week 1 in the NFL (Video)
Did you miss any of the Week 1 action in the NFL? We’ve got you covered. Here are five plays you shouldn’t miss from Sunday’s games:
Harvin a good time
Percy Harvin knows how to make an entrance. Making his regular-season debut for the Buffalo Bills — his fourth NFL team — Harvin caught a pretty 51-yard touchdown pass from Tyrod Taylor in a rousing first game and a big win over the Indianapolis Colts. Watch Harvin haul in this pass over his shoulder despite good coverage.
Best catch of the day?
The Cleveland Browns might not be overflowing with wide receiver talent, and they were down to their backup quarterback when Josh McCown got hurt and Johnny Manziel came in. But don’t forget about Brian Hartline, who can still make a pretty grab. Witness this beauty — with Darrelle Revis draped on him — by Hartline, who reached back with one hand from his knees and still snags this Manziel toss.
Shouldering the load
The Washington Redskins had a chance to shock the Miami Dolphins, who made just enough big plays to hang on for a victory. Witness one of them: This insane Brice McCain interception along the sideline, stealing the ball from Pierre Garcon and cradling the ball on his shoulder while staying in bounds.
New York strip
Brandon Marshall, like Harvin, is on his fourth NFL squad. So naturally he, too, wanted to make a strong first impression on his new New York Jets teammates. Not only did Marshall lead the Jets in receiving, but he also made one of the great defensive plays of the game. Seriously. After a Ryan Fitzpatrick interception, Marshall did his best impression of former Chicago Bears teammate Charles Tillman and stripped the ball free to get it back for the Jets.
Easy Eddie catch
On the first day of training camp, Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy made a fancy, one-handed catch. Asked about it that afternoon, Lacy grinned and joked, “Y’all think I can’t catch. I can catch.” He showed it in Sunday’s opener. Watch him snag this pass from Aaron Rodgers with ease. Who needs Jordy Nelson? (OK, that’s a joke — and likely a bad one.)
