Linus Omark unleashes another nasty shootout move (Video)
The name “Linus Omark” is practically synonymous with “memorable shootout goal” at this point, so it should come as no surprise that the Russian skills competition star unleashed another beauty on a poor, unsuspected goaltender on Sunday.
Omark and Salavat Ufa (home to Sami Lepisto and Niklas Svedberg!) went to a shootout with Ak Bars Kazan. In the fifth round, and having already missed on one attempt against Ak Bars goalie Emil Garipov, Omark had a chance to win the game.

He skated in rather deliberately, picking up his skate slightly as he moved to the goaltender’s left. You can see Garipov moving with him, his eyes glued to the puck. So Omark just waits him out and calmly flips the puck over his sprawling body for the winner.
In other words, perhaps the greatest shootout artist this side of Pavel Datsyuk made it look easy.
I recently did a taping with NBC for a show that’ll air this season, and Omark’s name came up. I’d argue he was the first YouTube star in the NHL – a player whose abilities in the shootout were known well ahead of his playing in the League, albeit briefly.
