Jim McElwain goes off on player, Florida wins on wacky fumble (Video)
Kelvin Taylor scored on a 7-yard run to put the Florida ahead of East Carolina 31-17 in the fourth quarter, but Gators head coach Jim McElwain wasn’t too happy about it.
After he scored, Taylor was penalized 15 yards for making a throat-slashing gesture. When the junior trotted over to the sideline, McElwain berated him in front of the team.
It looked like the Gators had things in hand after Taylor’s touchdown, but East Carolina cut the lead to 31-24 with 3:04 to play.
The ECU defense then forced a three-and-out to give the offense once last chance to tie it. The Pirates advanced down into the red zone, but then this happened:
Yup, the ball just slipped out of quarterback Blake Kemp’s hand on a first down play from the UF 13-yard line. Florida pounced on the ball to seal a 31-24 win.
