Coaches Poll: Auburn falls, BYU makes debut
The USA Today coaches poll release was back in its usual spot Sunday, setting the stage with a new batch of rankings just before the kickoff of NFL action. Ohio State maintained its hold on No. 1 following its victory against Hawaii, with Alabama, TCU and Baylor all holding strong at their spots.
The main shuffling in the top ten came as a result of Michigan State’s 31-28 win against Oregon. The Spartans moved up to No. 4 in the latest rankings from the coaches while the Ducks, now 1-1, fell to No. 13.
The biggest move up in the rankings came from BYU, jumping up eight spots to No. 22 after beating Boise State in thrilling fashion. Auburn dropped eight spots after squeaking by Jacksonville State and Tennessee, previously on the edge of the Top 25 at No. 23, was dropped from the rankings after losing to Okahoma, who did not move up or down after the win in Neyland Stadium.
