The New York Giants managed to fend off the New England Patriots in week four of the NFL preseason, beating them out with a 12-9 victory. Ryan Nassib completed 16 of the 32 passes that he attempted for 193 yards, while on the ground, Orleans Darkwa rushed for 39 yards in 10 attempts. On the receiving end, Geremy Davis claimed 65 yards in three catches and James Jones added a further 39 yards to the total in four.
Last season, the Giants averaged 267 yards in passing and 100.2 in rushing, while defensively the team yielded 240.6 passing yards and 135.1 rushing yards. The team did have quite a meagre 2014 season though, only achieving six victories to their 10 losses. The fault for this laid entirely in New York’s defensive line, and it’s possible that the 2015 season could play out the same way. Their defence ranked 24th last year, remaining somewhat of a serious problem within the team.
The Cowboys finished at the top of the NFC East Team in 2014, clinching the division with their 12 wins and four losses. In their last two games against the Giants, Dallas had little issues with the aforementioned defence of the opposing team, and their offensive line still holds strong, despite DeMarco Murray no longer being a part of the roster. However, like the Giants, Dallas also encountered problems with their defence, ranking just two positions higher than New York. Middle linebacker, Rolando McClain and pass rusher Greg Hardy, are both suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season, while starting corner, Orlando Scandrick is out for the season with a torn ACL.
Dallas claimed a 21-14 victory over the Houston Texans in their fourth week preseason match of 2015. Dustin Vaughn completed 11 of the 20 passes that were attempted, claiming 115 yards in the process. Meanwhile, Ben Malena rushed for 88 yards and a single touchdown in 15 attempts, while Gus Johnson provided another 68 yards and a touchdown in 16 attempts. However, this was their only preseason victory, losing their other three games and securing only 48 points during the four weeks.
