Field, stadium flooding doesn’t stop Mets and Braves from playing
A little rain never hurt no one, Tom Waits once sang. That was certainly the attitude the Mets and Braves took into their game on Thursday night.
The first game of their four-game series was delayed two hours and twenty minute due to a downpour that flooded the field and parts of the stadium. That didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm though. Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki was ready to play even has rain flooded into a hall way near the clubhouse:

The grounds crew worked tirelessly to get the field in game shape and what looked like a game sure to postponed was played, despite the field at one time looking like this:

It’s no wonder the Mets were so eager to play, they are one of the hottest teams in baseball. They beat the Braves 7-2 for their fourth win in a row, and have opened a 7.5 game lead in the NL East. They now have a 99 percent chance of making the playoffs, according to SportsClubStats.com.
