Michael Taylor’s Little League Grand Slam wasted in Nationals’ loss
There aren’t many guys in the big leagues who can out run Nationals’ 24-year-old center fielder Michael A. Taylor, who made the most of his chance to show off his wheels Tuesday night against the Mets.

Taylor came to the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning against Mets’ ace Matt Harvey. He hit the ball hard up the middle into center field for what should have been a two-run single. But the ball appeared to take a bad hop in the center field grass and bounced over the glove of Mets’ center fielder Yoenis Cespedes.

The ball rolled all the way to the wall and Taylor rolled all the way around the bases for a Little League Grand Slam that gave his team a 7-1 lead. Taylor easily made it around the bases, gliding in to score his run without even having to worry about beating a throw for a play at the plate.
At that point, the Nationals appeared to be well on their way to a win over the Mets, who have a six-game lead in the National League East. However, the Mets rallied all the way back to an 8-7 win when the Washington bullpen collapsed in the seventh and eighth innings.
Taylor has been hitting well over the past week. He’s 5-for-12 with a home run and six RBIs in his last four games.
