The Bulldogs are the defending C-USA West Division champions, and humiliated the Western Kentucky team last year with a stunning 59-10 defeat. That marked the Hilltoppers’ worst result in a game of the 2014 season. Louisiana will be looking to overrun them again, and with Skip Holtz at the helm as head coach, as well as Florida transfer quarterback Jeff Driskel, the Bulldogs no doubt have their sights set on a Conference USA title. This was further proven in their week one game against the Southern Jaguars last Saturday, crushing them in a 62-15 victory.
The week one game saw Driskel attempt 15 passes, 12 of which were completed for a total of 274 yards. The team as a whole completed 21 passes for a total of 380 yards. Rushing carries rounded out at 32 for a total of 207 yards, an average of 6.5 yards per carry, while two touchdowns were made, one by Driskel and the other by Kenneth Dixon. Meanwhile, Paul Turner played a nice game, going long for 58 and receiving three for 76 yards. A total of five receiving touchdowns were also completed altogether.
Western Kentucky also came out fighting in their week one 2015 season game, defeating the Vanderbilt Commodores 14-12 in an away game – a big change after last season saw the Hilltoppers’ offence on a continuous bail out of its defence. Joe Brown made an open-field tackle on Nathan Marcus during the game, stopping him a single yard shy of the goal line on a two-point conversion attempt. With only 33 seconds remaining at the time, it was enough to retain Kentucky’s lead and secure the win.
Despite Vanderbilt outdoing Kentucky in statistics all over the place during their match last Thursday, the Hilltoppers still managed to pull out the victory, claiming 246 total yards. Nineteen out of the attempted 30 passes were completed, giving the team an average of 6.5 yards per throw. In terms of rushing, 23 attempts were made, which does slightly pale in comparison to Vanderbilt’s 42, and no interceptions were thrown. However, Kentucky now faces a challenge from the Tech Bulldogs, and will need to thoroughly improve their game if they’re to succeed this time.

Sure the Bulldogs faced a much easier opponent in their opening game rolling to a 62-15 victory as a -39 point favorite than Western Kentucky, but we think that they can score on nearly anyone. We can’t say that about the Hilltoppers right now who managed only 293 yards and 14 points last week.
