It’s the first Saturday of the college football season, and while the excitement of marquee matchups like Louisville-Auburn, Texas-Notre Dame, and Wisconsin-Alabama will have fans glued to their televisions all day, those in one-week college fantasy football contests should stick to the basics. The strategy is pretty simple: Look at the Las Vegas odds for games with high totals, and find players with high ceilings from those teams .
Here are more tips and picks to help you set your FanDuel lineups, with an extra emphasis placed on GPP tournaments (large-scale, big-money contests).

Who are the best values in weekly college fantasy football contests?
Tommy Armstrong, QB, Nebraska ($8,800). Armstrong is coming off a strong close to last season against Iowa and USC. He finished in the top half of Big Ten quarterbacks, and his $8,800 price against a not-so-strong BYU defense makes him a great pivot play off the higher-priced, chalkier options this weekend. I would not be surprised if he puts up a couple touchdowns through the air and one on the ground.
Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia ($10,900). Chubb should absolutely decimate the UL-Monroe defense in what will be a Georgia blowout for their home opener. With Virginia transfer Greyson Lambert being named the starting quarterback and speculation he might share snaps with other QBs, Chubb should see as many carries he can handle en route to a great start for his Heisman campaign.
MarQuez North, WR, Tennessee ($6,200). North should be the main target in a deep wide receving corps for Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs. Additionally, with Jason Croom looking like he’ll be out because of a knee procedure, it should open up things even further for North and the Tennessee receivers vs. Bowling Green.
David Washington, WR, Old Dominion ($6,000). In what should be a high scoring affair against Eastern Michigan, look for Washington to have his fair share of opportunities. Old Dominion has a team total projected at 35 points, so Washington should get plenty of opportunities in a close, high-scoring game.
Nate Terry, TE, Florida Atlantic ($2,200). We need salary relief somewhere if we’re going to roster one of the best running backs in the country this weekend, and tight end is the best position to do that, especially during a weak slate of games. The Florida Atlantic game should be a high scoring and close contest versus Tulsa. If Terry can get a couple grabs and rack up mid-double-digit yardage, that’s all we need out of a near-minimum-price TE.
