Michigan took the fall against Utah in Ann Arbor in September of 2014 – a great accomplishment for the then-unranked Utes, and a huge downfall for the Wolverines considering the match was played on home turf. However, with a change of coach that saw Brady Hoke dismissed and Jim Harbaugh take his place, the Wolverines are expected to make at least a decent comeback. Harbaugh brings a power-run scheme back to the program where he played quarterback in the 80s.
Michigan’s 2014 season saw them allowing too many yards and not taking enough. Their offensive line averaged 20.9 points and 333 yards per game, a dismal showing with only Penn State coming out worse. While veteran quarterback Devin Gardner, and star receiver, Devin Funchess combined their efforts to achieve three touchdowns in the opening game of the season, they only connected for one more score in the rest of the games played. The 5-7 record meant that the Wolverines missed bowl season for the third time in the last seven seasons.
Utah, on the other hand, will be looking to establish itself as a Pac-12 contender. They destroyed the Wolverines last year with a stunning 26-10 victory, and many claim that the Utes have turned into what Michigan used to be. The Utes will be looking to replicate last year’s success and prove their worth on the field, showing off their great defence skills. Hunter Dimick and his ten-sack success from last year is returning for Utah on one end, with three starters back up front. Punter, Tom Hackett and kicker, Andy Phillips will make all the difference for the Utes.
Utah’s 2014 season saw them complete 229 of 378 passes with a total of 2570 yards gained. Rushing yards of 2475 and receiving yards of 2570 as well as touchdowns of 21 and 20 respectively, saw the Utes through the year.

The Wolverines return a very experienced offensive line, but have a green starter behind center and a new offense. Both teams have quality experienced defences and this is certainly a very high total line taking that into consideration.
