More preseason injuries: Three Packers injured, including Randall Cobb
The Green Bay Packers had to be holding their breath at the sight of yet another wide receiver going down.
Randall Cobb suffered a shoulder injury against the Philadelphia Eagles, the severity of which is unknown. Just last week the team lost No. 1 receiver Jordy Nelson to a season-ending torn ACL and cannot afford to lose Cobb to a major injury. The good news (for now) is that NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said a broken collarbone has been ruled out for Cobb and that it appears to be relatively minor, although Cobb’s Week 1 availability against the Chicago Bears remains a question.

The Packers suffered two other notable injuries — starting offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga (ankle) and safety-corner-return man Micah Hyde (neck) also left the game.
There were other notable injuries around the NFL Saturday night:
• Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey suffered a left knee injury and has an MRI scheduled for Sunday but is optimistic he’ll be back without missing a game. With the shaky status of the guards, plus the unknown health of left tackle Branden Albert, the Dolphins can’t afford many hits up front.
• New York Jets first-round pick Leonard Williams suffered a knee injury. He was listed as questionable to return but didn’t and never appeared on the sidline again. He’s assumed to be the Week 1 starter with Sheldon Richardson’s four-game suspension to start the season, so losing Williams for any significant length of time would be a big blow. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that X-rays came back negative and that Williams suffered a bone bruise, but the severity is important to determine — he still could miss the opener.

• The San Diego Chargers appeared to avoid a massive hit when Philip Rivers took a hit on his throwing hand but was seen on the sideline without the hand in question wrapped up. Although he was pulled from the game, Rivers said he could have gone back into the game, you know, if it mattered.
• Likewise, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton left the game against the Chicago Bears with a neck injury but was “fine” according to head coach Marvin Lewis.
• Former Florida State defensive tackles Timmy Jernigan (Baltimore Ravens) and Eddie Goldman (Bears) left their respective games. The second-year Jernigan suffered a knee injury, and the rookie Goldman suffered a concussion.
