The New York Jets seemed to be on shaky ground upon their opening appearance in the preseason, suffering a humiliating 23-3 loss against the Detroit Lions. It would be in week two that they finally showed some spark though, taking out the Atlanta Falcons in a 30-22 victory. The Jets’ quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick finished 13 of 19 for 118 yards and was sacked once. Not only that, but his backup Bryce Petty, a rookie to the team, played a great game too, completing 12 of 19 for 168 yards and a touchdown pass to DeVier Posey.
The unfortunate minimal score during their opening match left the Jets floundering in terms of both offence and defence. However, their victory against the Falcons has brought them to a 1-1 standing and pushed them slightly up the rankings. According to preseason statistics, the Jets have claimed 239 yards, consisting of 162.5 pass yards and 76.5 rush yards. This ranks them 28th overall. Defensively, 343.5 yards have been given away by the Jets, giving them a 22nd position overall, and total defence points stand at 22.5, giving them 24th position.
In terms of the New York Giants, they also stand at 1-1 on the win/loss table. Last week saw them claim a 22-12 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the Giants will have to be on top form this time around as they gave up three sacks through their first two games in the preseason. Last season’s prime rooki Odell Beckham Jr., hasn’t had the same kind of flair this year yet, failing to catch any of the five passes sent his way. However, backup quarterback, Ryan Nassib proved that the Giants still have plenty of fight, completing 19 of 35 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown.
The Giants are pretty much in the same boat as the Jets, ranking 24th overall for 284 yards gained. In terms of their defense, 338 yards have been allowed so far this season, positioning them just ahead of the Jets, in 21st position.

The Giants are very beat up on defence and there should be plenty of opportunities to put some points on the board the Jets. The Giants are missing their number two receiver which really hurts and you are facing on paper a really good secondary. We’ll take the shot with the Jets who with the new coach may want the win for some extra confidence. It also doesn’t hurt that the Tom Coughlin is 3-8 in Week 3 games!
