Houston took their first loss in week two of the preseason, falling to the Denver Broncos in a 14-10 finish. The Texans only managed to score points during the third quarter, although managed to keep the Broncos from doing so in both the first and third quarter. Overall though, both offence and defence were on shaky ground during the game. One Texans player that did propel himself to higher standing was Kourtnei Brown. Following the team’s opening game against the 49ers where Brown recorded two sacks, he was still in fine form against the Broncos, scoring Houston’s only touchdown on a 69-yard interception return.
The Houston offensive, while suffering somewhat during last week’s match, has seen the team claim a total of 341 yards, ranking them in ninth position. Defence has been a bit up and down, but only having 12 points in this area places them in fourth position, according to official NFL preseason stats. A total of 291 yards have been allowed on the ground.
The Saints opened their second week game against New England’s Patriots in fine form, taking 15 points in the first quarter and a further six in the second. However, the Patriots made a comeback in the last three quarters of the match, securing a 26-24 victory over New Orleans. This marks the Saints’ second loss in the preseason. New Orleans’ rookies seemed to be having considerable issues during the week two match, with only linebacker, Hau’oli Kikaha making an impression as a strong defender.
The Saints are currently ranked first for their 319.5 pass yards, although 77.5 rush yards put them in 27th position. Overall, 397 yards taken gives them an overall third position for offence. However, while this would appear great, the Saints have allowed a total of 362 yards on the ground, ranking them 28th on the leader board, and defence points of 28 in total leave them ranked in 29th position.

The Saints looked really good last week when playing their starters versus the Patriots top unit, but we feel that the Patriots have a lot of work to do on that side of the ball. New Orleans is built to run with some short passes thrown in and that’s what we think they’ll do tonight against the vaunted pass rush of the Texans. Houston has been all about ball control and we expect them to stay the course tonight. This is a pattern for us, but a valid one.
