Paul Goldschmidt hit a ball so hard it got stuck in the outfield wall
Paul Goldschmidt is a strong man.
So strong, in fact, that he hit a baseball so hard it got stuck in the outfield wall at Chase Field.

Yep, that’s right. Facing St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Jaime Garcia in the fourth inning Tuesday night, the hulking Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman smashed a fastball deep to right field.
The ball hit the wall… And it just stayed there, stuck between two protective pads. We’re used to seeing this kind of thing over at Wrigley Field with the ivy and all that, but it’s definitely rare – though not unprecedented – to see it happen at one of MLB’s other ballparks.
Just check out this shot of the ball stuck in the wall and a confused Jason Heyward:

Now, here’s a question: is Goldschmidt strong enough to keep Arizona in the postseason hunt? The D-backs trail the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers by 6 1/2 games heading into Wednesday’s games.
With just over a month left, it’ll be tough for them to close the gap and mount a serious run for the division crown. As we saw Tuesday though, Goldschmidt is capable of doing things we don’t see very often.
