Yankees will wear special caps honoring Andy Pettitte for his number retirement
The New York Yankees will immortalize two legends from their Core Four this weekend, as both Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte have their numbers retired at Yankee Stadium. Posada’s ceremony is Saturday and Pettitte’s day is Sunday. The other half of the Core Four — Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera — their days are guarantees for the future.

On Sunday, Pettitte gets a salute that we’ve seen happening more and more around baseball the past few years. The Yankees will wear a special cap to honor Pettitte for that afternoon’s game. Here’s the New Era cap with a side patch featuring a menacing Pettitte.
Most recently, the Arizona Diamondbacks gave similar treatment to Randy Johnson when his number was retired earlier this month. The Yankees have done it for Bernie Williams’ number retirement and for Jeter and Rivera’s final home games.

As far as we’ve heard, Yankees players won’t be wearing caps saluting Posada on Saturday, but a special cap featuring him is available for purchase. Just like Pettitte’s. In fact, now that the Posada and Pettitte caps are for sale, the hardest core of Yankees fans can own caps honoring each member of the Core Four.
You better believe a few Yankees fans out there are psyched to complete their collections.
