Marcell Ozuna crushes home run off the top of the foul pole
chronicle the longest jacks hit in the majors every month – but even we don’t remember seeing a homer quite like the one Marcell Ozuna mashed Thursday night in Miami.
We’ve seen our share of monster home runs here at Big League Stew – in fact, weWith a runner at first base and two outs in the second inning, Ozuna turned on first pitch changeup from Phillies right-hander Jerome Williams and hit the ball so high it hit the top of the foul pole.

That’s right. The ball actually landed on top of the foul pole. MLB’s Gameday feature measured the blast at an estimated 434 feet and that it came screaming off Ozuna’s bat at 110 mph. That’s an incredible display of power.
Coming off a breakout 2014 season in which he hit 23 home runs, Ozuna hasn’t been able to replicate that success this year. The 24-year-old outfielder struggled at the plate for the first three months of the season before being sent down to the minor leagues on July 5 and was just called back up from Triple-A last Saturday.
He sure came up with one heck of a highlight to announce his return to the bigs.

Since we’re already on the topic of Marlins sluggers, here’s some news. Giancarlo Stanton, the guy who usually stars at the centre of serious smashes for Miami, hopes to return to the lineup by Sept. 1. Stanton hasn’t played since June 26 after breaking a bone in his hand, but still ranks fifth in the NL in home runs with 27.
