Dale Purinton, former NHL brawler, arrested for burglary
Hey, remember Dale Purinton? Former New York Rangers defenseman from 2000-2004? The man who had 578 penalty minutes in 181 NHL games? Wonder what happened to that guy?
Wonder no more: Purinton was arrested by Oneida County police on Wednesday for Burglary 1st Degree, a Class-B Felony.
From the police:
According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol; On August 19, 2015; at about 9:20pm, Dale C. Purinton, age 38, from Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia was arrested on an active arrest warrant for Burglary 1st Degree, a Class-B Felony.
The arrest stems from an assault investigation by the Sheriff’s Road Patrol in the Village of Sylvan Beach that occurred on August 11, 2015. The investigation indicated that Purinton broke into a residence and caused physical injury to the sole occupant in the residence. Purinton fled the scene prior to police arrival and the victim was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in the City of Utica, for medical treatment, the victim was later released.
During the course of the investigation, the Criminal Investigation Unit developed information that Purinton may be staying with relatives in Otsego County, NY. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office located Purinton at a residence in the Town of Laurens and he was taken into custody without incident.
Purinton was then turned over to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit. Purinton was arraigned and remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 Cash or $50,000.00 bond. Purinton is due back in court on a later date.
