The Ravens faced off against the New Orleans Saints in their preseason opener and claimed a 30-27 victory. The team’s QB, Joe Flacco played a great game, directing a 16-play, 80-yard drive which finished with a one-yard touchdown by Lorenzo Taliaferro. Flacco also completed five of six passes for 33 yards and was in play for 17 more before being substituted. And speaking of Taliaferro, he ran for 36 yards and delivered his first quarter score on 12 carries.
Baltimore’s opening win saw them score 30 points, putting them in 4th position in the 2015 preseason rankings so far. Strong offence during their début game saw them pass 255 yards, giving them a ranking of 6th, while 105 rush yards gives them a position of 14th. Defence-wise, the Ravens have some work to do, allowing 266 pass yards and 100 rush yards in the preseason so far, positioning them in 22nd place overall.
The Philadelphia Eagles also garnered a victory in their week one match, slaughtering the Indianapolis Colts with a flawless 36-10 win. While starting quarterback Sam Bradford was omitted from the opening game as a precaution after suffering a torn ACL last season, Mark Sanchez took his position, going 2 for 7 for 52 yards. The game included stunning competition from QBs Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow for the third string spot.
The Eagles’ have great rankings in the preseason at the moment, sitting in first place for the 36 point victory over Indianapolis last week. Their strong offence saw them take 412 yards overall, ranking them third according to preseason stats so far. Their defence isn’t too far behind either, giving just 281 total yards to their week one opponents, ranking them 10th overall. Now it remains to be seen if they can keep up the strong showing against the Ravens of Baltimore.
The Ravens head coach John Harbaugh takes the preseason seriously after starting his head coaching career back in 2008 when he went 1-3 in the games he has gone an impressive 19-6! The jury is still out on Eagles head man Chip Kelly who is 5-4 in his coaching career at Philadelphia including a 1-0 record in 2015.

Both of these teams in our opinion will be high scoring this season and certainly started that way in Week 1 with the Ravens putting up 30 points and the Eagles lighting the board up with 36. The total line is on the high side at 44.5 but look for Baltimore and Philadelphia to get in the 20’s sending padding the OVER bettors pockets.
