Reports: LSU DB Jalen Mills to miss ‘first few games’
LSU senior Jalen Mills will reportedly miss the beginning of the season.
Mills, a senior defensive back, suffered an ankle injury during practice Wednesday morning, according to a report from the Advocate. The injury could “keep him out for the first few games of the season,” the report says.
Another report from the New Orleans Times Picayune says Mills “is expected to be out four to six weeks.”
An LSU spokesman confirmed to the Advocate that Mills suffered an ankle injury, but did not confirm the severity of the injury.

Mills, a safety, is the most experienced member of the Tigers’ defense with 39 career starts at both cornerback and safety. Mills has also served as the defense’s nickel back in passing situations.
Mills has 186 tackles, six interceptions, 13 pass breakups and three sacks in his career.
Though the loss of Mills is a big one, the Tigers have a very deep secondary. Junior Rickey Jefferson, who has played in 20 career games, is listed as Mills’ backup at free safety.
The Tigers open up at home against McNeese State on Sept. 5 before traveling to Mississippi State on Sept. 12 and hosting Auburn on Sept. 19.
