USC freshman QB Ricky Town decides to transfer
Ricky Town’s first season at USC is over before it even began.
Trojans head coach Steve Sarkisian confirmed Sunday that town, a true freshman quarterback, will transfer to another program.
“We wish him the best of luck,” Sarkisian said. “He’s worked extremely hard, he’s been a great member of our program and I’m sure wherever he decides to go, he’ll be a good member of that program as well.”

Town, a four-star recruit from Ventura, Calif., enrolled early at USC in January as part of the Trojans’ 2015 class. He and fellow class of 2015 quarterback Sam Darnold (another four-star recruit) were competing for the third-string quarterback position behind Cody Kessler and Max Browne.
Sarkisian said Sunday was the first he had heard of Town potentially transferring.
“(Sunday) was the first I’d heard of it. I just met with Ricky and he decided that he wanted to move on,” Sarkisian said. “I wished him luck.”
The timing of Town’s transfer allows him to transfer to another school before the fall semester begins. In that instance, he could redshirt the 2015 season at his new school and be eligible to play in 2016.
