Miguel Cabrera and Jose Altuve attempted to drive each other crazy
After a 37-game absence, Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera returned to the field on Friday night in Houston and made his presence felt almost immediately.
Granted, it wasn’t in the way we’re used to seeing Cabrera contribute. At the plate, he was 0-for-3 with a walk. But he did make a valiant attempt to throw Houston’s Jose Altuve off his game by pestering him at first base.

The playful exchange took place during the third inning. It started innocently enough, with the two friends engaging in some conversation. However, the second Altuve let his guard down, Cabrera took advantage by nonchalantly reaching over and untucking his jersey, forcing Altuve to request timeout.
The reactions all around were great. From Altuve’s “fill-in-the-expletive” look, to Cabrera simply going about his business innocently, to the announcers wondering if that really just happened, everything about it was outstanding. But it wasn’t the end.
A few pitches later, Altuve struck back, untucking the back of Cabrera’s jersey before making a mad dash to second base on a stolen base attempt. It seemed like good strategy, especially if Altuve was looking to avoid the potential wrath of Cabrera.
As it turns out, the joke was again on Altuve. Preston Tucker ended up popping the pitch up on the infield, forcing Altuve to scramble back to first base. The popup was caught by Cabrera, who remained unfazed by all of the activity.

Again, this just goes to show what happens when a two-time MVP and former Triple Crown winner decides to mess with you. Try as you might, you’ll never get one over on him, and you’ll end up looking like this.
