Justin Rose feels he is trending to a second major title
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — Justin Rose figures he’s ready to win a second major championship, and the numbers seem to support his confidence.
In his last three starts, Rose has finished T-6 at the British Open, T-4 at the Quicken Loans National and T-3 at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. It’s not a big leap, then, to assume Rose can win the Wanamaker at this week’s PGA Championship.
“I’m moving towards the winner’s circle,” Rose said Tuesday. “So I’m coming into here with a lot of confidence.”
Rose also has reason to like the course this week. Though he didn’t play well here five years ago, when Whistling Straits last hosted the PGA, he did win earlier this year on a Pete Dye golf course, TPC Louisiana, at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. In 2014, Rose posted his best-ever finish at The Players, contested on another Dye design.
“I think I’m getting my head around the challenges that he presents,” Rose said.
Put it all together, and Rose has a lot of people thinking that this could be his week.
“I feel like I’m still hoping to keep the peak going,” he said. “I would say this would be a great week for it all to line up. I’ve been trending in the right direction. It would be nice to take that extra step and get over the finish line first.”
