Corbyn backed Arsenal as best team in world
It’s been unearthed that Jeremy Corbyn, a man currently vying for leadership of the Labour party, once backed a Parliamentary motion to have Arsenal officially declared as the “best football team in the world.”
The motion was presented in April of 2004 — just before the “Invincibles” of Arsenal won the Premier League without losing a game — and said that the house sought to recognise the Gunners for the “fluency and poetry” of their football.

“This House believes that Arsenal is the best club football team in the world at the moment and admires them for the fluency and poetry that they have brought to the beautiful game.”
Corbyn, member of Parliament for Arsenal’s home constituency of Islington, was the first politician to second the motion, although fellow like-minded supporters were hardly in abundance — with only two further politicians adding their signatures to the list.
A little harsh on the Gunners, perhaps.
