Al Horford part of Borders camp in Dominican
NEW YORK — Atlanta Hawks star Al Horford of the Dominican Republic will participate in an upcoming Basketball without Borders camp slated to take place in his home country for the first time.
Horford took to Twitter to say that it will be a “privilege” to participate in the camp.
It’s a privilege to return home to share the values of the game with the campers and work in the Dominican Republic! http://t.co/lulQ9CpUFT

Run by the NBA and FIBA, the Aug. 16-19 camp in Santo Domingo will include Dallas Mavericks forward Charlie Villanueva, whose parents are Dominican, former Dominican national team NBA players Felipe Lopez and Francisco Garcia, and Tito Horford — Al’s father.
Corey Brewer of the Houston Rockets and NBA veteran Luc Richard Mbah a Moute also will help instruct 51 teenage campers from 18 countries in North and South America.
Basketball without Borders camps have been held this summer in Spain and South Africa. More than 2,400 campers have taken part since it began in 2001, with 37 eventually drafted into the NBA.
