Al Michaels offers obituary for broadcast partner Frank Gifford
Frank Gifford, a legend both on the field and in the broadcast booth, passed away of natural causes on Sunday morning. Giff was a man’s man, the ultimate 20th-century ideal of a Big Man On Campus, and he drew admirers wherever he went. One of those was the man who spent 12 years in a broadcast booth beside him, Al Michaels.
At halftime of Sunday night’s Hall of Fame game, Michaels offered up a short tribute to his friend. There could, and should, have been much more to this, and Michaels will surely speak in more detail in the coming days about Gifford’s remarkable life.
