– Adrian Beltre is 11-for-30 with a double and three homers lifetime against Hisashi Iwakuma.
– Brandon Belt is hitting just .210 vs. lefties this year, so don’t be surprised if he has a rough day against Jon Lester.
– Bryce Harper (1.043 OPS vs. LHP this year), Jayson Werth (.926 for his career), Anthony Rendon (.826 for his career) have all shown the ability to hit lefties well, so give them consideration against Jorge De La Rosa. Teammate Michael A. Taylor (.560) doesn’t hold much value.
– Lefties are getting on base pretty easily against Nathan Eovaldi (.349/.404/.465). Ben Revere could cause some problems at the plate and on the basepaths today.
– Xander Bogaerts (.945 OPS), Mike Napoli (.871), and Rusney Castillo (.855) have hit lefties well this year, so give them bumps in value against Tigers’ rookie southpaw Daniel Norris. Avoid David Ortiz (.494).
– Cody Anderson has pitched well this year, but he’s been dinged for a few more hard-hit balls by lefties (.494 SLG). Joe Mauer and Eddie Rosario are slightly more valuable than usual.
– Julio Teheran is allowing a .301/.387/.485 line to lefties this season. Dee Gordon, Derek Dietrich, Christian Yelich, and Justin Bour could be in line for good games.
– Lorenzo Cain (1.005 OPS) and Ben Zobrist (.922) have been killing lefties this year, making them even more valuable against John Danks. Traditionally, Salvador Perez has hit lefties well, but he has just a .507 OPS against them this season. Alex Rios (.567) has also struggled against southpaws in 2015.
– Edison Volquez has been eating up lefties all season (.217/.285/.337), and he’s also been great at home (2.74 ERA). That’s bad news for Adam Eaton and Adam LaRoche. (Though, to be fair, what isn’t bad news for Adam LaRoche?)
– Don’t expect much from Stephen Vogt (.612 OPS vs. LHP this year) and Josh Reddick (.544, 1-for-15 lifetime against Keuchel) against Dallas Keuchel. Teammates Josh Phegley (.894) and Brett Lawrie (.802) are your best bets from the A’s today.
– Ryan Vogelsong has allowed 13 of his 15 homers to lefthanded batters this season. Kyle Schwarber and Anthony Rizzo will be taking aim at the bleachers in Wrigley today.
– Lefties are knocking around Raisel Iglesias to the tune of a .347/.406/.464 line this season. If you’re looking for some lesser-owned sleepers in DFS contests, try David Peralta, Jake Lamb, and Ender Inciarte.
– He’s been better lately (and much better at home), but James Shields has still yielded a .273/.351/.516 line to lefties this year. You can try your luck with Ryan Howard and Odubel Herrera.
– Have Nelson Cruz (1.198 OPS vs. LHP this year) in your lineup against Cole Hamels, and Kyle Seager (.842) makes for a good reverse-platoon guy. If you’re going deep, try Franklin Gutierrez (.883) and Jesus Montero, who killed lefties during his minor league career (1.011) and has started hot against them this season in the majors (.984). Don’t get excited about Robinson Cano (.577) or Brad Miller (.422).
– Adam Jones (.894 OPS vs. LHP this year), Nolan Reimold (.862), Chris Davis (.848), and Manny Machado (.802) make for fine plays against Angels’ lefty Andrew Heaney. Teammates Jimmy Paredes or Jonathan Schoop likely won’t provide much even if they’re in the O’s lineup.
– If you’re feeling lucky, give Pittsburgh’s resident lefty killers (Francisco Cervelli, Starling Marte, Jung-ho Kang) a shot against Clayton Kershaw. Don’t expect the Pirates to give Gregory Polanco or Pedro Alvarez any shots against Kershaw, though.
– Jean Segura is 10-for-26 with a double and a triple lifetime against Lance Lynn. Teammate Scooter Gennett has also fared well against Lynn (7-for-18 with two doubles and four walks).
– Most Yankees have been mediocre at best against R.A. Dickey, but Brian McCann (6-for-32) stands out as especially poor.
