With one save LaTroy Hawkins joins rare company on two lists
Toronto Blue Jays reliever LaTroy Hawkins reached two unique career milestones on Wednesday night when he earned the save in a 9-7 win over the Minnesota Twins. Hawkins, 42, is the oldest player in the major leagues and in his 21st season, and now with his 11th different team.
His save over the Twins was special for a few different reasons. First, it came against the team that drafted him and where he spent his first nine seasons. More importantly he joined a list of just 13 players who have earned a save against all 30 major-league franchises.

It was his first save with the Blue Jays, becoming only the fourth player to earn a save with eight different teams.
What makes Hawkins’ duel feats impressive is that rarely in his career has he been a true closer. He had a career-high 28 saves in 2001 with the Twins, but has just three seasons with more than 20 saves, and has only 127 over his career, that’s good for 103rd on the all-time list.
Hawkins, who also became oldest Blue Jay to ever record a save, joins Rick Aguilera, Armando Benitez, Brian Fuentes, Kevin Gregg, Jason Isringhausen, Jose Mesa, Jonathan Papelbon, Rafael Soriano, Huston Street, Ugueth Urbina, Jose Valverde and Bob Wickman on the list of players to record a save on all 30 teams.
He told MLB.com he didn’t think he would get there.
“I had never thought about it until yesterday,” Hawkins admitted. “[Mark] Lowe said something to me about it, making a joke in the bullpen. I’m like, ‘Really? Well, I probably won’t have a chance to get that.’”
