Mike Pelfrey mimics Brian Dozier’s every move during pregame warm-ups
Over the weekend we saw Minnesota Twins players and coaches mimicking bears in honor of ‘National Bear Day.’
On Wednesday, veteran pitcher Mike Pelfrey took things to an entirely different level by shadowing and mimicking teammate Brian Dozier.

During pregame warm-ups ahead of Minnesota’s 9-7 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, Pelfrey was everywhere Doizer was, doing every drill Dozier was doing, all the while identifying himself as Brian Dozier.
Pelfrey had the jersey. He had the walk. He even has Dozier’s jogging style down pretty much pat.
They were, for all intents and purposes, twins. The only telling differences were the eight inches in height, the 40 pounds in weight and Pelfrey’s considerably slower pace.
Those all actually stood out like sore thumbs, but that really only added to the beauty of Pelfrey’s efforts.
As broadcaster Dick Bremer put it, they often wish the Twins had more players like Brian Dozier. And why not? The first-time All-Star leads all second baseman with 23 home runs this season. Every team could use several players with that type of pop, particularly on the middle infield.
If Pelfrey sticks with it long enough, perhaps he’ll put his pitching days behind him and be reborn as a slugging second baseman.
