Lions trade CB Mo Seisay to Seahawks – Detroit Free Press
Mohammed Seisay reported to training camp with the rest of his Detroit Lions teammates today, and promptly found out he’d been traded.
The Lions traded Seisay to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2016 draft pick, his agent Ian Greengross said.
The trade was first reported by the Seattle Times.
Seisay, an undrafted rookie out of Nebraska, split his time between the Lions’ practice squad and 53-man roster last year.
He appeared in 13 games as a backup and special-teams player and finished with five tackles, but appeared to be buried on the depth chart this year.
Darius Slay and Rashean Mathis return as starting cornerbacks, and the Lions signed veteran Josh Wilson and drafted Alex Carter in the third round and Quandre Diggs in the sixth for depth this year.
Wilson and Diggs split time with the first-team nickel defense this spring.
The Lions will get a sixth-round pick in the deal, according to CBS, giving them eight picks in the 2016 draft, plus likely compensatory picks for losing Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley in free agency this spring.
The Lions don’t have a third-round pick next year – they traded it to move and get Gabe Wright in this year’s draft – but have extra picks in the fifth and sixth rounds.
