Depay passes Man United medical
Memphis Depay reflects on recent success and says he’s ‘more than ready’ for the Premier League following his move to Manchester United.
Memphis Depay is set to join Manchester United after passing a medical at Old Trafford.
The Netherlands international will become United’s first summer signing after they agreed a £25 million fee with PSV Eindhoven.
The 21-year-old was the 22-goal top scorer in the Eredivisie as he helped PSV become Dutch champions.
Depay, whose move will go through in June when the transfer window reopens, will be reunited with United manager Louis van Gaal.
Van Gaal gave Depay his Netherlands debut and the winger was in the squad that finished third in last year’s World Cup, when he scored twice and was shortlisted for the award for the best young player in the tournament.
Memphis Depay will play for his former international manager Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.
Depay’s arrival will take United’s spending under Van Gaal to £177 million.
They are also expected to try and buy a midfielder, a central defender and a right-back this summer and will also require a new goalkeeper if David de Gea joins Real Madrid.
Mats Hummels, Nathaniel Clyne and Gareth Bale are all players who have caught United’s attention.
Van Gaal boasts another large budget and United’s expenditure could reach £150 million for a second successive year.
