Texas freshman Turner to enter NBA draft

Texas freshman Myles Turner announced Monday he will leave for the NBA on Twitter, and his father confirmed to ESPN that he will send the paperwork to the NBA sometime this week.

“We have not sent in the letter to the NBA yet,” David Turner told ESPN. “But he’s not coming back to Texas. He’s going to declare for the NBA draft.”
The 6-foot-11 Turner was one of the most highly rated recruits in the country. He averaged 10.1 points and 6.5 rebounds in 22 minutes this season for coach Rick Barnes — who was fired by athletic director Steve Patterson on Sunday.
Several NBA executives told ESPN that Turner is a likely lottery pick.
