PHOENIX — New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis rolled his left ankle during the team’s shootaround and missed the team’s 74-72 loss to the Phoenix Suns Thursday night.
The loss dropped New Orleans a game behind Oklahoma City for the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference. Phoenix is 2½ behind Oklahoma City and 1½ behind the Pelicans.
Coach Monty Williams said before the game that the injury occurred during routine drills. Williams said Davis might have stepped on Omer Asik‘s foot.
Williams said it was too soon to say whether Davis would be able to play at Golden State on Friday night.
Davis is averaging 24.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.
