Mr. Met immortalized as an answer in the New York Times crossword
For the honors and acknowledgements Mr. Met has received, you would think nothing would faze him at this point in his career. Turns out, that’s not the case.
The mascot received a nice surprise Wednesday when he sat down with morning coffee to complete the crossword in the New York Times.
Good for you, buddy!

Mr. Met was put down by Wally, the Boston Red Sox mascot, Tuesday, so this was a nice way for him to get the week back on the right track.
One complaint, though, why did the Times have to mention that dastardly Phanatic? Mr. Met has done enough in his career to warrant a clue that doesn’t include mention of that hooligan.
Surprisingly, this is not the first time the New York Times has mentioned a baseball mascot in their crossword. Orbit, the Houston Astros mascot, made it in there last month.
Though it would appear Mr. Met was slighted again, we here at The Stew aren’t too upset about it. Mr. Met may not have been the first mascot to appear in the New York Times crossword, but he remains first in our hearts!
