Doug Fister loaded up his family in an RV for a spring training road trip
What happens when you put a man, his wife, two dogs and two cats in an RV and send them on a cross-country road trip? No, it’s not the latest reality TV show, it’s the story of how Washington Nationals pitcher Doug Fister made his way to spring training this year.
That’s right, Daniel Norris isn’t the only baseball player who lives in a sweet van. While Fister didn’t make it a long-term thing, he did have to deal with another person and four animals. Both of Fister’s dogs are Great Danes, so they probably took up a significant amount of space. Heck, Fister is listed at 6-foot-8, so it had to be a big RV.
Though there was potential for conflict, comedy and disaster, Fister said the trip went well. Everyone behaved, and he got to spend some quality time with his wife. All in all, that’s not a bad way to spend a few days before the slog of the season.
Next season, though, Fister may want to consider renting the RV to teammates Max Scherzer and Gio Gonzalez so they can film their trip to camp. Baseball’s newest bromance would certainly provide us with some entertaining moments, right?
