(10:52 am ET) Nationals manager Matt Williams said right-handed pitcher Drew Storen threw again on Monday and remains on track in his recovery, according to the team’s official website. On Friday, Storen underwent a surgical procedure on his left hand to remove the hook of hamate bone from his left hand. He’s expected to be ready for opening day.
White Sox RP Nate Jones will finish long-toss progression Monday

(10:50 am ET) White Sox reliever Nate Jones, who is coming off Tommy John surgery in July, is expected to finish his long-toss progression on Monday, according to MLB.com. Jones’ next step will be mound work from various distances.
“So far it has been good,” Jones said his recovery. “I’ve been sore after my throwing days, which is not unusual. We are training that tendon to do something new, to be a ligament. We are at a good pace right now, pushing it. Take it easy the next day and then push again. It’s learning its job.”
Rangers’ Ross Ohlendorf (groin) still in the mis for a rotation spot

(10:43 am ET) Ross Ohlendorf is expected to remain in the thick of the Rangers’ rotation race, despite departing Sunday with an injury, the Star-Telegram reports. Ohlendorf tossed two strong inning on Sunday before exiting with tightness in his right groin. The injury is not expected to keep Ohlendorf out for much time, per the Telegram.
Ohlendorf added that his experience has helped him stay in the race.
“I felt like two years ago I’d really started to learn some strengths of mine and started to develop my strengths,” Ohlendorf said. “I feel like I’ve continued to become a better pitcher.
“Some of that’s just experience and having more confidence in things, and also learning more about myself. I think my stuff’s been as good as it’s been, too.”

Angels OF Mike Trout targeting more stolen bases in 2015

(10:29 am ET) Angels outfielder Mike Trout told reporters that he’s working on stealing more bases this season, per the Los Angeles Times. On Sunday, Trout backed his words with action, stealing second base and then third in an exhibition game against the White Sox.
“It’s nothing we’re putting more emphasis on,” manager Mike Scioscia said. “Mike’s going to steal bases when it’s important to us, when he has the opportunity to.
“If pitchers try to shut down Mike, it’s an advantage for Albert (Pujols) or whoever is hitting behind Mike,” Scioscia said. “And if they’re paying more attention to the hitter, there’s going to be an opening for Mike. So however it plays out, his speed is a weapon for us, even if it doesn’t show up in the pure number of stolen bases.”
Angels’ Santiago on injured forearm: ‘I’ll take the ball in five days’

(10:21 am ET) Angels pitcher Hector Santiago, who was forced to leave Sunday’s game after taking a line drive to his left forearm. told reporters he’ll make his next start in five days, per the Los Angeles Times.
“It got more meat than bone — it was nothing loud,” Santiago said. “I put some ice on it to keep the swelling down, but it should be back to normal [Monday]. I’ll take the ball in five days. Knowing me, I’d throw tomorrow. I’ve been hit a bunch of times. It’s going to take a lot more than that to knock me out.”
