Liverpool's Origi ends goal drought with hat-trick for Lille
Divock Origi scored his first goals since the start of October as his hat-trick fired Lille to a convincing 3-0 Ligue 1 victory against Rennes on Sunday.
Origi, on loan from Liverpool, ended his drought in style with a commanding performance that earned him a standing ovation when he was taken off in the 77th minute.
The Belgian struck twice in the second half to add to his earlier strike to give Lille a third successive win and move them into the top 10, above their opponents.
Origi’s first goal in nearly six months came courtesy of a classy finish in the 38th minute, before he doubled his tally on the night from the penalty spot just past the hour mark.
He completed his hat-trick 10 minutes later when converting Nolan Roux’s cross at the back post, before taking the plaudits at the Pierre Mauroy stadium.
It signals a dramatic change of fortune for Rene Girard’s side, who had won just once in six games before notching three consecutive wins to move them away from any potential relegation troubles.
