(11:42 am ET) Catcher Dioner Navarro, out since Tuesday with a minor knee problem, was able to take batting practice for the Blue Jays on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Enrique Rojas.
First baseman Edwin Encarnacion, also out since Tuesday, is expected to take swings on Monday. Encarnacion has been sidelined with an inflamation in his lower back.
Brandon Guyer expected to return to Rays’ lineup on Tuesday

(11:34 am ET) Rays outfielder Brandon Guyer is expected to return to the lineup on Tuesday.
Guyer has only appeared in one spring training game, missing more than a week with a strained oblique and lat.
Rays manager Kevin Cash said that Guyer hit on Saturday morning. He’ll take full batting practice on Sunday and is expected to play on Tuesday.
Rays’ Drew Smyly to play catch on Sunday

(11:31 am ET) Rays pitcher Drew Smyly has made progress in his return from shoulder tendinitis, according to a report by Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Manager Kevin Cash said that Smyly is feling better and is scheduled to play catch on Sunday.
Carlos Carrasco scratched from Indians’ start with illness

(11:16 am ET) Carlos Carrasco was scratched from Saturday’s start for the Indians. The team announced that the righthander is suffering from an illness.
Bruce Chen will start in Carrasco’s place.
Carrasco has allowed one run and two hits in three innings this spring.
Rays’ Alex Colome hospitalized with pneumonia

(11:11 am ET) Rays pitcher Alex Colome has been hospitalized with pneumonia, manager Kevin Cash told the media on Saturday.
Colome is being treated with antibiotics, and may be released on Saturday or Sunday.
Colome is in danger of missing the start of the season. Cash said he could be ready but “it will be close.”
Asher Wojciechowski to make case for Astros’ rotation on Sunday

(10:36 am ET) Asher Wojciechowski is trying to land the final spot in the Astros’ starting rotation after spending the last two seasons in Triple-A.
The right-hander will get a chance to make his case for the job with a start in Sunday’s game.
“I’m definitely appreciative and excited to get a start, and will just go out there and compete and have fun and see what happens,” Wojciechowski told MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart.
Wojciechowski has pitched five shutout innings this spring, striking out three and allowing three hits.
“I’m a big Wojo fan,” Astros GM Jeff Luhnow said. “For him to emerge as a legitimate Major League pitcher this year would be fantastic for our organization. I’m hopeful that he can do it in a starting capacity.”
Tony Sipp lands role in Astros bullpen, last spot still open

(10:28 am ET) Astros manager A.J. Hinch announced that LHP Tony Sipp had earned a spot in the bullpen.
“Sipp’s on the team,” Hinch told MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart.
There are still three pitchers battling for the final spot in the Astros pen: Kevin Chapman, Joe Thatcher and Darin Downs .
Thatcher is the most experienced, but he’s not on the team’s 40-man roster. Still, he appears to be the favorite.
“Thatch has thrown well and has some experience,” Hinch said. “Chapman is still in the mix.”
Nationals’ Williams: Anthony Rendon will ‘be fine’ after injury

(10:21 am ET) Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon will miss another day with an ACL sprain. He hasn’t appeared since being scratched from the lineup on Tuesday with swelling and pain in his left knee.
Manager Matt Williams said that Rendon’s condition was unchanged on Saturday morning. While he won’t return to the lineup yet, Williams said the injury wasn’t a major concern, promising, “He’ll be fine.”
Tigers’ Joe Nathan will get another crack at the Phillies

(10:18 am ET) Tigers pitcher Joe Nathan was scheduled to throw a side session on Saturday, but instead, he opted to pitch in a spring game against the Phillies, reports Jason Beck of MLB.com. Nathan was hammered for six runs — four earned — on five hits in just two-thirds of an inning against the Phillies on Thursday. He has a 9.82 ERA this spring.
Lucas Duda to DH for Mets on Saturday

(10:13 am ET) Lucas Duda, recovering from an strained intercostal muscle, hasn’t played in a game yet this spring.
The initial plan was for Duda to return to the Mets lineup on Sunday. Accoding to ESPN’s Adam Rubin, he’ll start a day early, appearing as a designated hitter in Saturday’s game.
